We will discuss the controversy and view of female singers in today’s Muslim Community as well as look at what Muslim women can do to revive platforms for the female arts.

RABIAH MALI( Pearls of Islam)
Rabiah is one half of the acoustic duo Pearls of Islam who have been performing for over a decade. They are one of the pioneers when it comes to Muslim Female Nasheed groups in the UK. They have always emphasized the importance of teaching other women to pick up the drum and use their voices to praise Allah (swt). In 2010 they set up their drumming school toteach and encourage women and children to play the drum and learn English and Arabic nasheeds. The Pearls draw from different traditions and have used their Caribbean heritage to add a twist to their drumming style and performances.
